Lift together with Emakina celebrate the 10 years of the conference

Author: Romain Dehaudt, Head of Revenue & Operations

From Lift’s earliest days, a relationship has developed going beyond the formal aspects of a traditional partnership. And since Emakina shares its offices with the Lift team, the two collaborate on a regular basis.

In 2015, Lift celebrated its 10th anniversary with a new format, whereby participants could move freely from the main conference room to attend discussions and presentations in smaller, more intimate breakout formats.

Emakina participates actively at Lift15

Arnaud Grobet, Managing Partner of Emakina, organized a private conference at Lift15 for Emakina clients and team with the participation of Xavier Damman, Co-founder of Storify and Fabrice Offret, Director of Key Accounts at LinkedIn.

The main topics discussed at this private event were content curation and storytelling. The Storify platform is a main center of interest for brands today and Xavier offered a key piece of advice to participants: “Reward fans for being actively involved with the brand. If the product is that great, it will find me.”

Emakina also had a Phygital (physical and digital) stand at its private conference, hosted by Michael Totta, Head of Applications. He showed examples of virtual and augmented reality with smart connected objects such as Oculus, Bracelet Myo, and iPad battle.

European Space Agency touches down at Lift15

Another center of interest at the Lift15 conference was the European Space Agency. Many of its important members touched down in Geneva for the first two days of the event. The Space Agency’s participation enabled all Lift attendees to discover the important business opportunities provided by space data applications.

During the Seedstars World Final, which crowned the best startup from 36 emerging countries, participants held talks and debates on a range of digital topics. These included the Chinese workers movement and the future of democracy.

Virtual Reality attracts wide attention

The Birdly attraction, an example of Virtual Augmented Reality, allowed Lift participants to experience the flight of a bird flying over San Francisco. The installation was created by Max Rheiner, using a “bird flying machine” that holds a person who maneuvers it while wearing an Oculus Rift headset. Thus, one can simulate the dream most people have of flying like a bird.

Another eye-catching attraction was Emakina’s Sharing Box, a 100% customizable photo booth.

It was designed for the smoothest user experience possible. This interactive tool captured some of the best moments at LIFT15 and shared them through social media or email with instant printing.
